WE NEED STABILITY, NOT HOSTILITY
Members First Unity Slate
Experience to Win What Matters Most
Did you know? 85% of current officers in 1199 are part of the 1199 Members First Unity Slate to preserve decades of valuable experience and win a stronger future for members.
You probably have already heard that 1199’s current presidential administration is scrambling to pull together a slate for upcoming union elections because 85% of the current officers, hundreds of staff, and thousands of leaders have decided it is time to take our union in a more secure direction by electing the Members First Unity Slate.
While we applaud those who are stepping up as part of this mad dash by the current presidential administration to build a slate, it is important to know what’s at risk and why there is such a scramble by them to find backers.
Why are 85% of current officers part of the Members First Unity Slate and saying it is time for change at the very top of the union?
It’s simple. We know that the union is about more than any one individual, and that unilateral decision making is not the best way to operate a democratic union. We know we are punching below our weight and that we must be stronger than ever in these unprecedented times when special interests and anti-union forces are attacking our jobs, our community, and healthcare in general.
We all know a different type of leadership at the top of 1199 is required now. We deserve leaders who listen, share power, and put members first. That is the type of inclusive leadership – combined with experience – that the Members First Unity Slate will deliver. Members First Unity Slate believes we can fix what’s broken and position our union to win the fights that matter most.
The current presidential administration seems to be implying in recent misleading messages that the 85% of union officers who are calling for change do not have any experience. Common sense says that just isn’t true. The Members First Unity Slate is sticking to the facts – and sticking with our members.
